2500 volunteers hard at work for the «CleanUP days»

A recyclable bag, stainless steel tongs, and a huge desire to contribute to the cleanup of the mountain region. The “South Tyrol CleanUP Days” involved groups, families, and other members of the community on 14-17 September in Eggental, Seiser Alm, Val di Funes, Aldein-Radein, Val Passiria, Valle Aurina, Valdaora, and Val Casies-Monguelfo-Tesido, thanks to the involvement of the Natural Parks of South Tyrol and of the Alpenverein.

CleanUP Days Sudtirol

Taking action and raising awareness

The idea of participating in CleanUP Days came from a working group of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site tourism associations, coordinated by the Nature Landscape and Spatial Development Department of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano / South Tyrol, the point of reference for UNESCO World Heritage Site management in South Tyrol, and IDM South Tyrol. The project is consistent with the “Respect the Mountain” initiative and serves to make residents and tourists the principal stakeholders in cleaning up the region while simultaneously raising widespread awareness about proper waste management, both in the protected areas of the Natural Parks and elsewhere.
