From 18 to 22 December, the first edition of the European Universities Winter Championships will be held in the Dolomites of Val di Zoldo, where 400 students from European universities will compete in the disciplines of alpine skiing, snowboarding and snow volleyball. The event is organised by the University Sports Centre of Venice, under the umbrella of the European University Sport Association and under the patronage of the Veneto Region, the Province of Belluno and the Municipality of Val di Zoldo, in collaboration with the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation.

The days will not only be dedicated to competitions, but will present an important opportunity for exchange and awareness-raising among young university students on the characteristics that make the Dolomites a unique heritage in the world and the efforts necessary to maintain its integrity, including behaviors to be adopted for a more conscious and sustainable frequentation of the mountains. Environmental sustainability linked to sporting events will be the central theme of the conference to be held on Tuesday 19 December at the “A. Rizzardini” Congress Hall in Fusine di Zoldo. The round table on the legacy and sustainability of winter events will be attended by Director Mara Nemela.
