The second half of the season will see the launch of the live format for #mountainhutlife, an initiative organised by the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation at the World Heritage mountain huts. From Rosengarten to the Brenta Dolomites, Peitlerkofel to Pale di San Martino, and the Ampezzo Dolomites to Pelmo, seven meetings are planned for September and October. All the details on upcoming events can be found at this link. Registration is only mandatory for geotreks (Alimonta, Sass de Putia e Biella), but is strongly recommended also for the other events.
Philosophy and science at Pian de Fontana
During the sessions, moderated by Flavio Faoro, mountain-hut managers will discuss their daily work, while guest experts will explore topics such as visiting the Dolomites, the effects of the climate crisis and the importance of prudence and awareness in the mountains. This was also the flavour of the event on 23 August at the Pian de Fontana mountain hut in the Belluno Dolomites National Park, with speakers Elena Zamberlan, mountain-hut manager; Jacopo Gabrieli, glaciologist from the National Research Council; and Paolo Costa, philosopher.
