The documentary

Not only has the documentary by Piero Badaloni, produced with the collaboration of Fausta Slanzi and photography and editing by Nicola Berti, been broadcast a number of times by Rai Storia and Rai International, over the past few months it has also been shown by a large number of local stations, testimony of the significance and interest this educational series has generated: six hours of footage teach us about the extraordinary landscape of the “Pale Mountains” as we discover their exceptional importance for the history of the Earth and listen to stories of the men and women who have lived there for centuries, shaping the landscape, economy and culture.

A Journey in the Fossil Archipelago
The DVD

The UNESCO Dolomites Foundation has chosen two criteria as the focus of this 50-minute DVD, criteria which were decisive for inscription on the World Heritage List: their exceptional scientific importance for the geological history of the Earth and the extraordinary beauty of the landscape.

Key excerpts have been taken from each of the six episodes of the documentary focusing on the geological and geomorphological aspects, as well as the beauty of the landscape, rounding off with the actions taken to conserve and protect the landscape, also with regard to human activities.

This is a great opportunity to complete your Dolomites collection with the latest addition to the story, the one that involves us, our way of relating to the mountains and how we see them in the future, seven years on from UNESCO inscription.  The DVD is available in Italian, German and English.
